Studies at the UW

Based on the Act of July 20, 2018 Law on higher education and science, foreigners mentioned below are exempt from tuition fees when undertaking full-time studies conducted in Polish:
- citizens of the European Union (EU), Swiss Confederation, or European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries and the members of their familiesif residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland;
- foreigners who have been granted a permanent residence permit in the Republic of Poland or are long-term residents of the European Union (EU);
- foreigners who has been granted a temporary residence permit in connection with the circumstances referred to in art. 159 par. 1 or art. 186 par. 1 point 3 or 4 of the Act of December 12, 2013 on foreigners (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 2094 and 2399 as well as Journal of Laws of 2019, item 577 and 622);
- foreigners who hold refugee status granted by the Republic of Poland or have been granted a temporary or subsidiary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland;
- holders of a certificate confirming the knowledge of Polish language as a foreign, referred to in art. 11a par. 2 of the Act of October 7, 1999 on the Polish language (Journal of Laws of 2019, item 1480), at least at the C1 language proficiency level;
- holders of the valid Card of the Pole or foreigners who have received a decision on the recognition as a repatriate;
- foreigners who are spouses, ascendants or descendants of citizens of the Republic of Poland, residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland;
- foreigners who have been granted a temporary residence permit in connection with the circumstances referred to in art. 151 par. 1 or art. 151b par. 1 of the Act of December 12, 2013 on foreigners, or staying on the territory of the Republic of Poland in connection with the use of short-term mobility of a scientist under the conditions specified in art. 156b par. 1 of this Act or with a national visa for the purpose of research or development work.
